Forts & Games

We've been busy with the new school year! Our homeschooling group is quite active with lots of great events planned.

This year I decided I would do math, language and reading daily and do one week rotations with Science, Geography and History. I am really pleased with how it's working out! We are not rushing from one thing to the next, we get to spend a dedicated amount of time exploring things in-depth. From a planning perspective it takes less time to throughly plan a one week with the rotating subjects than for all of them. We are really liking how things are set up, we had a very smooth transition this year :)

I thought I would post a few pictures of the kiddos :)

Our Geography game! The children really like this one, they have to roll the dice, select a card from our box and do whatever it says. So usually it's some kind physical activity like, do 5 push ups and find Alberta. They are having a great time with this one :)

As he found out not all cards have a physical activity, this one was make a hat from paper and find a province LOL Such a goof ball!

  1. Fun photos!
I like your idea of concentrating on one subject (history, geo, science) per week. I think I have been doing that, somewhat unconsciously! This week, we have had a lot of fun with world geography and learning about Mexico! Not much science going on though...
