Entrepreneurial Beginnings

In June we have an Entrepreneur Fair coming up, being organized by Caro!  Mr. Monkey has done a lot of brain storming and has decided to to have a variety of items.  One of the most important items, besides lemonade :), will be wooden shields.  They will be shields inspired by the Ancient Romans, being that of a round style.  Here are a few shots of him building the prototype:

Earth Week and Other Outdoor Fun

We've been busy with clean ups and being outdoors a lot!  Here are a few pictures of our adventures over the past few days:

The children were at Sunnidale Park for during the week cleaning up the Arboretum.

We also went out with some great friends to a local forested area to look for animal prints.   We found what looks like raccoon prints here.  Carol bought some quick setting plaster so we could take the print home with us :)

Eating Our Way Around the World!

We have started a most exciting and tasty new venture, Eating Our Way Around the World!  Carol a fellow homeschooler had this fantastic idea and we were more than happy to take part!  This month we focused on Holland.  We came to realize that the Dutch have a love of potatoes and bacon LOL  Being from a Dutch background I was excited to try my hand at food I wouldn't normally prepare, and thanks to my mom it went better then I thought it would.  Here are some pictures of the day:

Carol painted these great little boxes and the children were drawing traditional type pictures on them to decorate.  They are trying to mimick that of Hindeloopen style painting.

Science Fair

We had the Science Fair this past Tuesday.  The children really enjoyed themselves and as far as organizing events go I found this to be really simple!  Here are a few pictures of the fun:

A Lazy Sunday

The young lady was up at 6:30am and we managed to hold her off until Mr. Monkey woke up at 7:00am.  They made quick work of finding all the Easter eggs left by our fuzzy friend the Easter Bunny.  The husband was in charge of the camera and without a thought for my blog just took video LOL  So here are some pictures of the past few days, of the young lady, as her brother was off to visit family the past couple days.

We decided to make Easter Cupcakes.  The first attempt at cupcakes was a FAIL as the husband measured his baking soda in cups rather than spoons LOL  It was all I could do not to be sick trying those first cupcakes.  So after some heavy teeth brushing we tried again:

The Science Fair is very soon and we had success with the little ladies project, she can grow anything:

We'll be heading off to Great Wolf Lodge in a few days, my next post will likely show our adventures there :)
