Tomatosphere Complete!

We submitted our results today to the Tomatosphere website!  It was Little Miss's prediction that the group from space, although we didn't know which group that was, would grow slower.  We found that in the end both groups grew the exact amount of germinated seeds.  What was interesting though was that one group had germinated quicker initially.

It was a really fun project and even if the kids are in school next year we will do it again :)
Here she is with her certificate of participation for submitting the results!

Tomatoshpere - Yup Space Tomatoes!!

Little Miss and I received our Tomatosphere seeds a while back.  Today we got to planting!!

To find out the entire details of the project please visit: http://www.tomatosphere.org/

In a nutshell, we receive two sets of tomoto seeds.  One set is just plain old tomato seeds, the other set of seeds have spent 22 months in space.  We don't know which pack is which variety, this is a blind test.  The purpose of the test is to see how many of each seed type germinates.  Each day we record our observations in our log for each set of seeds.  Once we have our final results we record that on the Tomatosphere site.

This project hits on a number different learning outcomes which we will be exploring as the seeds do their thing.

Sweetie drinking the water from the tops :/

Little Miss thought the size difference was pretty cool!  As did I, never used them before :)

All organized and ready to plant!

Ripley's Aquarium

We went out to the Ripley's Aquarium today with a whole bunch of homeschoolers from around Toronto and area.  Thanks to my friend Christina for letting us know about the trip as we weren't homeschooling at the time of our sign up :)

So let me say that this place is magical.  Truly.  I can't remember a trip where we had so many WOWS!  I wouldn't say it takes you a long time to go through it but we went through twice because it was that cool!!

I won't bore you with chatter and let the pics speak for themselves.  I'm going to try and upload a video too as it was just awesome!

Here we go again!! Rainbow Loom Meet up :)

Well I thought we were done homeschooling for this school year but life has a way of keeping it interesting.  So myself and Little Miss are going to enjoy each others company for the next few months and do some fun but educational things along the way.

Today was a Rainbow Loom meet and greet!  We met some friends (old and new) at the library and tried out some new bracelets.  It was a nice to chat with the mommas as well.  Big thanks to those who came out!
